I might have a very similar route to what you have planned.  I'm heading to Bangkok for 1st March, staying there for 4-5 nights and then heading to Southern Thailand for 2-4 weeks.  I also want to head to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos.
 
I was going to head north from Bangkok but I've been told that with the farmers burning crops around that time, it's really not the best time to go.  So I thought I'd see the South first and then head north in April.
 
I'm 30 but don't let that put you off as I look really young for my age! haha :)  I'd like to think that I'm easy to get along with and I have a positive outlook on things but not annoyingly so.
 
My grand plan is to travel SE Asia for 3-4 months before flying to Oz, where I'll be starting a working holiday for another 3-12 months, depending on how much I like it.
 
It would be cool to meet up with someone who has been living in Thailand, even if it's just for a week or two.

Apart from Rajasthan, you could visit this Darjeeling (Queen of Hills) then Himachal Pradesh (State) Kullu n Manali, shimla, khajjiar which are very very beautiful hill station (if you are fond of it).. then a very amazin place is Leh Ladakh 
 
apart from that you can try south india (kerela and other beaches, which are far cleaner then goa {but also lil expensive thn goa})..
 
Udaipur, Sajjangarh are some very nice plces to see in Rajasthan. Even Kutch in Gujarat if you are fond of Rajasthani kind of culture.

Hello all, I'm free to go on a tour, preferably Europe (as I've never been to Europe before) starting from the last week of jun 2010. I'm writing this well in advance so that my likely buddies can plan ahead and adjust if necessary (my adjustment is also may be necessary to be in tune with buddy). I intend to tour for two weeks around the major cities, especially London, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome and Milan.
 
In case I don't find a buddy then I'll switch to plan B which is another trip to Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
 
it all depends on finding a buddy. I'm not planning on backpacks, rather economy hotels.

I am available to travel starting Dec. 30th through Jan 17. Then I need to return to California to work for 8 days. After that I'll be off for another 22 days. the I'll flight from delhi about the 16/17 to spend some time in Goa, maybe in a retreat, mediation/yoga/treatments etc, for at least 3 days, then spend the rest of the time in a beach hut around palolem, arambol, and anywhere else beautiful I can find. I can drive a scooter and managed to navigate the indian roads from anjuna to arambol unscathed a few years ago, so plan on getting a bike to get around goa.
 
I'd love to meet up with a travel buddy, for at least  the rajastan leg of the trip, as I would prefer not be a lone female traveller in the north. Not just to save costs, but for saftey and overall enjoyment reasons. I'd like to have someone to gush over the taj about, and laugh at when they, or probably me fall of the camel in jaisalmer.
 
I'm all booked up and will be heading off to oz, at the end of feb, this will be the first leg of a 6 months trip.
 
I'm fairly well travelled, a good researcher, reliable, honest, have a silly cheeky sense of humour. and love india with a passion.

I'm in my mid twenties and have been working for 3-4 years and before I succumb to old age, I would like to have some adventure and see places!

I am planning 3 weeks or maybe 4. The plan is to use interrail around Europe and go to lots of places, stay in hostels..basically a budget holiday! (doesn't mean I am planning to cut back on fun element). 

FYI - I drink but don't smoke but I don't have any issues if you do!

P.S. I have seen few ads and not to judge anyone but I am not looking for sex or anything like that so I really don't mind, if you are male/female or a zombie as long as you some sense of humour!
(bit of cynicism would be handy but not a prerequisite)

Check out Budapest, Split, Sarajevo, Warsaw, doesn't really matter, museums, art galleries, good eating, historical sites, tourist attractions, well kept town secrets, micro-breweries, nightclubs.

looking to stay in hostels/inns/or camp out to keep costs down, but do a hotel in a major city once a week to recoup

We have had a problem over the past few days with spammers hitting the site and sending messages to multiple members. Apologies if you have received any of these. Please report the message to us and we will ban the user immediately. The spammers have been creating multiple accounts and sending messages from those accounts in an attempt to counter being banned from the site. We have temporarily blocked all new accounts while we add some new anti spam features.

 

Spam messages typically are written in poor English, are overly familiar, contain an email address and are usually from an incomplete profile. Please do not reply or attempt to make contact with the spammer, report and delete them straight away,

I am planning to travel for 2-3 weeks Oct. 1st -20th, although I might have some flexibility with those dates.  I haven't committed to whether I'll be in Europe or Thailand largely because I want a TB.  ;)  If going to Thailand (perhaps with you?), I would take advantage of a friend I have living in Phuket.  I love to scuba dive, so that would definitely be on the itinerary.  I also have a friend in Kuala Lumpur who would be fun to visit, and I would (of course) love to see orangutans in Malaysian Borneo, but that's not absolutely necessary.  :)  It would almost seem like a crime to be in Thailand and not visit Chiang Mai, so I would absolutely want to do some trekking, rafting, and visiting with the hill tribes.   Since Thailand is super-cheap, I'd prefer to stay in places that are a bit nicer.  I'm not talking about The Ritz, but unless I'm bunking it with a hill tribe, I'd like an air conditioned room and a nice bed.  You know, a "splurge" for $30 per night.  ;)  Please write me back if you'd like to discuss possibly traveling together further.

1. North to Chiang Mai, cross over into Burma then up to Southern China.
 
2. South to some islands and on to Malaysia and Singapore, possibly including Bali.

From what I gathered whilst I was there Cairns is a big town that is the gateway to the Barrier Reef, I did not explore the city too much as there seemed so much to see close by. There are a huge number of options for activities including a day trip to the reef, cable car rides over the mountains, tree top canopy tours etc.. Personally I would recommend going north to port Douglas (much quieter) and do an excursion to the reef from there as Cairns boats are mayhem! From there you are a stones throw away from the Daintree rainforest (if you are lucky you may see Cassowary - a giant prehistoric ground bird) and Cape Tribulation is also close. 
 
Another option south of Cairns is Mission Beach which is more of a chill out place. I would highly recommend staying at the sanctuary http://mango-tree.com/travel-reviews/budget--eco-rainforest-retreat-2528/ this is also a great place to go skydiving, if you have the stomach for that kind of thing - I thought I didn't but loved it !!

Well to cut a long story short!!  Its been playing over and over in my head for years now!!!
 
I want to do something similar!  Set a challenge, get sponsors and off you go! Ha NOT!
 
This is something I have to do or it will eat away at me, and as the guys above done I'd do it for something like UNICEF.  I am under no elusions, of the amount of work and prep involved but am willing to commit to the cause.  To think it took celibrities at least 9 months prep and plenty luck with all the contacts etc they have its something that has to be respected.
 
If you are willing and able, or can help in anyway please reply.    Please only serious, due to unknown duration or commitment required and  will require 100% dedication and hard work.
 
Id like to do something like the highest point of Canada to the most southern point of South America, so the scale is enormous, but isnt meant to be easy, thats not the point!!!!
