Sounds pretty similar to me. Friends all either have work or personal commitments at the moment and I can't wait any longer so I'm going alone.
 
My flights are booked - I'm flying into Bangkok at the start of Feb and spending all of Feb/March travelling up through northern Thailand, then down through Laos and through Cambodia before heading back to Bangkok by April. Will be spending April doing some island hopping with a couple friends before heading to Australia on a working holiday visa.

Well the weather's getting colder and before you know it we all be enjoying those post-Christmas blues - so what better way to shake them off than with a ski-trip! 

A friend and I have organised a package in Meribel, which is part of the massive Three Valleys (or Trois Vallees for those extra cultured among you!) ski area in the French alps. It's a huge area with great skiing/snowboarding, and more importantly I just found out it has the longest toboggan run in Europe which can be ridden at night - no chance of an accident there then :-) 

Date-wise it's Sunday 29th Jan - Sunday 5th Feb 2011 so we should get the best snow while avoiding all the overcrowding of the school holidays. 

We've booked the whole chalet to ourselves. It sleeps 20 and there's a few spaces left so if you fancy coming along it'd be great to hear from you. It doesn't matter whether you're a skier or boarder, beginner or expert - we've got a whole mix already signed up. There'll be lots of new faces as well as friends of friends, as a result everyone is always keen to get to know each other and there are definitely no 'cliques'. It's a good split of guys and girls, with the age ranging from mid-twenties to mid-thirties.

I am looking to go traveling next Feb/March(2012) for a number of months (not decided on how long yet but pretty limitless) I am thinking of starting in thailand - phuket then just seeing where my feet take me over the rest of east Asia and down to Australia etc.

I am currently planning on travelling by myself due to my closest friends having other family/work commitments. I am a normal down to earth lad, that just wants to travel, meet new people and see the world. I haven't really planned a route as such so i'm pretty flexible on when/where to go.

it would be awesome to join up with other backpackers to share the same experience. Has any one else got similar plans?

I'm in desperate need of a couple of weeks escape to somewhere very far away. Travel dates will be 26th June - 9th July with a few days leeway either side to fit with anyone else who wants to come along.
 
I want to go somewhere in central or south america. Thinking Costa Rica, Belize, Brazil but don't mind where really.
 
I like active holidays so either want to do some volunteering (maybe WOOFing or other conservation volunteering) or surfing in Mexico, something like that.
 
Hostelling or other cheap accomodation is prefered. I have a couple of thousand to spend on it but would like some change. You might be able to convince me to splash out on a 5* hotel.
 
If anyone is interested, has any ideas or plans of their own I could tag along with please get in touch! Would be good to have a quick meetup beforehand too but not essential. I live in Gloucestershire if anyone's nearby.

My budget will be shoestring to medium-depending on what I can accomplish before I leave here: West Coast of Canada.  I'll be scoping out work potentials along the way...

From 1st to 3th of Jan....go see relatives in Banglore 
From 4th to 7th of Jan...a few more days for touring (destination still to be finalised)

Your plans sound similar to mine, I am looking to travel from late October/early November for 8 weeks. I want to travel to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Hello!

We - Stefan (27), Martin (25) and Birgit (25) – are 3 Austrians who have been on an RTW Trip for almost 4 month now. At the moment we travel around India. On March 16th 2011 we do have a flight to Brisbane, Australia. The plan was to travel in four (with another friend of us) mostly with a camping van, as we think it is the best and cheapest way to explore Oceania. Unfortunately, Nr. 4 lately decided to join us only later on our trip, so for now we are searching for travel buddies for Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Hopefully somebody would like to travel some part of our trip with us. Of course travel expenses for the car would be split fairly depending on how long the person is travelling with us. Our plan for Oceania can be divided into 5 parts and we are really looking forward to find a 4th traveller for each of the 5 parts. Therefore we will describe the itinery at the beginning and present ourselves at the end.

1.       We are going to arrive at Brisbane on March 16th. The plan is to rent a camping van beginning with March 18th and drive mostly northbound.

2.       For the 3rd of April we booked a flight from Brisbane to Alice Springs. There we will travel around for about one week. Probably we will go for a normal car instead of a camping van there.

3.       The next flight is from Alice Springs to Sydney on April 11th with a direct connection to Christchurch/New Zealand. There we will explore with a camping van the southern island for about 2 weeks and the northern for about one week. The returning point for the car will be Auckland.

4.       From May 3rd to May 13th we will spend 2 weeks at the marvelous islands of Fiji. (without renting a car)

5.       Beginning with May 13th we will spend 2,5 more weeks in and around Sydney. Of course we will drive around here as well. (we didn’t decide about camping van or car jet)

We three are really looking forward to find somebody who’d like to travel with us. About us:

·         We do think that we are pretty “easy” travel partners (however who would not say that about themselves?)

·         We do not have a fixed schedule, what we want to see in the respective regions. Therefore we are of course open for all kind of suggestions and wishes by the future Traveller Nr 4. I have to admit, that we do want to see a lot of things, that means on the one hand for example that we normally do not want to stay at one place for more than - let’s say - 4 days. However on the other hand we do not want to rush too much either. So let’s find a middle way together!

·         We do also write a travel blog of our trip. As it is in German not all of you may be able to read it, but at least you might find some pictures of us: weltkugeln.wordpress.com

·         In fact we do not have any “must have” requirements about you. Of course it doesn’t matter if you are male or female.

·         Here we’d like to add that Birgit and Stefan have been a couple for more than 6 years and Martin is a really good friend since about 5 years. Hopefully nobody has a problem with that. Moreover, if a female traveller does not like the idea to share the double bed in the van with an unknown man, it is not a problem at all. She could sleep of course next to Birgit.

·         We are travelling on a budget as we are travelling in total about 12 months. That doesn’t mean we do not like to spend more money from time to time for special things.

What else is there to say? We graduated from university (business administration) about one year before the travelling. We do like Indie rock and rock classics, which means we will for example listen to arcade fire and Bruce Springsteen in the van if its ok for you. We sometimes do like to drink one or two beers. In our backpack is a small laptop with about 100 GB of series (modern family, two and a half men, simpsons, How I met your mother and especially for Birgit Greys Anatomy,…) – we mention that because most of the vans do have a dvd player. All in all we think we are not really complicated travelbudies!

I am keen to go to Japan in July but don't really want to go alone. This is literally only for a 2 week trip (holiday) and isn't planned but will start in Tokyo, and incorporate Nikko National Park, a trip to Mt Fuji, perhaps a day of trekking, bit of culture, local food, and a few days on the beach.

I've done the backpacking round Asia / US / South America when younger, with friends and solo so am not keen to join an expensive Exodus trip which charges you a fortune to hold your hand, but do want to go with someone else. What would be ideal would be if you were in the same predicament, fancy a trip to Japan, live in London so we could meet up a few times and see if we like each other and then plan the details together. I'm not on a shoe string budget but I do know how to get round a country cheaply and am not planning on a 5* holiday just a chance to explore a country I am really keen to see.

Bit about me: I'm 34 f, work in PR, laid back, like exploring new cultures, trekking, reading, drinking cocktails, running, yoga, love beautiful countryside but am very much a city person; easy to get along with and looking for someone similar who would like to enjoy a great experience in Japan which would be as much your holiday as mine.

So I look forward to meeting you - and I have to add that the meeting up beforehand is really important.

I'm planning to take a journey on the Trans-Siberian railway from Moscow to Ulan Ude, then taking the Trans-Mongolian railway to Beijing and finally another train down to Lhasa in Tibet.
 
It will take about 1 week to get from Moscow to Beijing but I'd like to spend around 3 weeks on the whole journey some time in 2011. Dates flexible but thinking around May.
